The Barker firm was established in the year 1880 by a boot maker in Northamptonshire. A skilled craftsman and innovator, Arthur Baker's peg-sole, waterproof boots were in high demand. This led him to take on other craftsmen nearby to fulfil his orders. Later he opened a factory and secured contract with the army supplying boots in the First World War.
After that the company went from strength to strength and still stands in Northamptonshire today.
These hand sewn shoes for men and women, are still made with expert crafts-people who turn our around 200,000 pairs annually.
